Free Psychic Reading!

Through the magic of the internet, this website has gathered some essential information about you which allowed it to generate the following reading:
You're compassionate and sometimes too trusting. You are somewhat reserved and often wish that others would just leave you alone. You're favorite color is blue. You live near Washington and the dog's name begins with an S.
Of course I hope you realize that I just made that up. This site has gathered no information, and if any elements of the above statement ring true it is only by coincidence.
Stop by a "real psychic" and during your visit you will undoubtedly provide that person with real information, provide the answers for them, and make the connections yourself to their vague guesses. That is called "cold reading" and is used by most "psychics" and especially by people who claim to be able to communicate with the dead. Watch a spirit medium work sometime, you'll be surprised about how far off they really are, and how much information during the reading is actually provided by the person being read.
Why the quotes around real psychic and reading? Because, regardless of what any "psychic" may say (remember, it's their job so of course they're going to defend it as legitimate) there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that anyone, anywhere possesses any psychic ability. None! And it angers me to no end what these criminals do. They rip people off! And all too often the people they are ripping off are people who have a limited income and need all the money the can get.
I've heard people say, "what's the harm?" Or, "It's just entertainment." No, it is not just entertainment, and it can prove very damaging! People can be fooled, and gullible people who are misled by unscrupulous individuals (like psychics or mediums) can, and have even stopped taking medication on their psychics advice. Don't you think your doctor knows better?
People who would like to believe in psychic ability have the tendency to justify it, or lend legitimacy to it, in their own mind, with flawed logic, and simply can't comprehend how someone can be perpetrating a trick to defraud them of money. In fact, there actually may be "psychics" out there who believe they are really psychic themselves, and merely have a talent to ask the right questions and look for the right signs that the person being read is providing.
An example of bad logic used to lend legitimacy would be making a statement like, "Well Sylvia Brown charges $1,000 per reading so there must be something to it!" I had a woman make that very statement to me when I suggested to her that Sylvia Brown was a fraud.
A more accurate statement would be, "Sylvia Brown has found a niche market of gullible people who are willing to foolishly part with their money and fund her fraud, justifying their gullibility along the way."
Just because a "psychic" commands big dollars does not mean they're really psychic. It means they've gained exposure to a wide audience of believers, and it also illustrates the incredible number of uninformed people out there who are also rather needy.
I bet before Montel Williams made Sylvia Brown a household name she was probably only getting $75 per session. But now she's famous. And the funny thing there is that Montel doesn't even believe in psychics, he just put her on his show to gain ratings. Nevermind the immense grief his decision to promote her has caused some families.
But how can we convince so many people who believe in it, that psychics are frauds?
People who want to believe in psychics will justify it as entertainment. I ask you, what the heck is so entertaining about it? Folks would be better to save their hard earned cash for more practical, and really entertaining uses, instead of giving it away to someone who is playing a parlor trick and calling it psychic power. I'd rather pay to watch a magician perform real tricks and illusions.
"Psychics" are huxters, cons and thiefs! They lie to you! They don't know any more about your life than some stranger on the street. The ony thing they know is how to make a few vague statements to reel you in, then lead you on with questions, that you answer to fill in the blanks. How is that being psychic?
Please, please, please, let's put this criminals out of business!! Use common sense. Keep your money. Psychics are not for real!
