The Wanaque Vortex - Reality or Delusion?
by GhostWriter on 5-24-06, under Archived Articles
Between April and May of 2006 I corresponded with Sargel18 via his email address given on his official website at sargel18.com. In my initial email I asked him if he would be willing to talk with me about the Wanaque vortex, the photographs, and the connection, if any, to Bigfoot sightings in the area.
By nature I'm a curious person, with a great interest in the unexplained but equally skeptical. I wanted to know if Sargel18, a.k.a. Bryan Williams, would be willing to show me around the area in Wanaque where this vortex is allegedly located. Mr. Williams claims this vortex is a gateway to another dimension; a doorway to a world replete with aliens, demons, UFO's, even the Jersey Devil.
I didn't receive a reply.
A few weeks later I decided to email him again, this time from a different angle. I wanted to see if he would respond if challenged about the reality of the vortex or the truth behind his claims. As expected I received a response the very same day.
The response wasn't quite what I had expected. The kind, mystical and refined character that Sargel18 portrays failed to come through in his reply. The person I heard from seemed mean, and incredibly ignorant. He called me a "child" in his reply, without warrant, but I must confess that to me his comments and demeanor seemed far more childish.
Here is an excerpt from my original email to Sargel18.
"Mr. Williams,
... Some time ago I read about your alleged discovery of the Wanaque vortex, which is apparently a portal of sorts into a parallel dimension. I recently heard mention of you and this vortex again while listening to a podcast on strange tales.
I know that Wanaque has a history of strange lights and maybe some UFO activity. Being a resident of a nearby town I am very intrigued by this phenomenon...
... I would be interested in meeting with you to discuss this and also to possibly tour the area where you have managed to access this portal. If this is possible please let me know. I would like to cover this topic on my website.
Hope to hear from you.
Best regards..."
I received no response to this initial email, even after three weeks or so. And, as you'll learn at the end of this article, there's a very good reason he wouldn't want to meet with me in Wanaque. Finally I followed up my first email with this:
"I contacted you some time ago. I must say, I actually didn't expect to hear back from you, and I wasn't wrong. It explains a lot when someone with such wild ideas about the paranormal and supernatural doesn't respond to an invite to discuss his 'discoveries.'"
As I had expected this did receive a response. Funny, and telling, how someone with such world changing knowledge about an alleged parallel dimension would not respond to a serious inquiry but immediately reacts to criticism. Here is what Sargel18 had to say:
"wow! as I thought when I saw you site and read your letter you really are a loser
Nice try child, when you grow up you can try to play with the big boys
Later"
As you can see, there is a significant difference in attitudes here. At no time did I call him names, or belittle him personally, even while taking a jab at his "wild ideas" about the alleged vortex. Harsh criticism I admit, but no name calling on my part. Sargel's stance is interesting. From his reponse it seems that he is caught up in his own mind and opinions, with no need or desire to prove himself to anyone who doesn't believe. He wants nothing to do with me, that much is obvious. Especially since he blocked my email address after this bit of correspondence. Luckily I have another one. :)
My next email to Sargel — even more colorful on my part since I was a bit steamed after his name calling — went, in part, like this:
"You blocked my other email address so I thought I'd try this one just make one thing clear.
You are deluding yourself and others with this nonsense...
Figures you'd respond to criticism instead of my initial, serious inquiry.
... it's funny that the same person who blesses and wishes peace to everyone calls me a loser the first chance he gets, as well as a child. Hardly seems in character, wouldn't you agree?
And if you ever change your mind, I'd still love to see the vortex, if in fact it exists.
Best regards"
Sargel18's reply:
"Serious enquiry?
Your nobody
Your a hack and why would I waist my time with you?
really man what an ego
LOL, Oh my God what a loser
Later and don't waist my time again
I mean it"
After that there was no further correspondence. But we can gather a lot about Sargel18 from his simple and moderately hostile responses. He wa challenged, and didn't take it well, chosing to attack me, calling me names instead of responding politely. This indicates that he has nothing at all to show as proof of this "vortex" or other claims. He would rather lecture "believers" and publish his "discoveries" and "predictions" on his website, as well as attempt to profit from high priced "artifacts" on ebay.
Furthermore — as I mentioned earlier this is one reason Sargel refused to meet with me — according to a WHOIS lookup on his domain name he doesn't even live in New Jersey, let alone near Wanaque. He resides in sunny California. Makes you wonder just what he's up to doesn't it?
Note: The WHOIS information for this site was secured and made unavailable after the publication of this article. I also received an email from an acquaintence of Mr. Williams stating that he knew William's had lived in Pennsylvania for a time as well, but had originally lived in the Wanaque, NJ area. Still, why would he move away from his alleged vortex?
My guess, he's trying to create some hype and take advantage of the more gullible portion of our society by making wild claims. He paints a mysterious, mystical portrait of himself, but in the end it's nothing more than self promotion, ego, and probably a healthy dose of self delusion as well.
Be careful what you believe and who you follow. It's better to think for yourself, if you can. If you can't, please try like hell.
